The Masonic Lodge has launched a new lodge in Tweed Heads.

Sponsored by Lodge Tweed, Murwillumbah, it is named Twin Towns Daylight Lodge No. 981.

Mason Ray Briddick said yesterday it was the first day lodge in the district and was formed to cater for the many older members who did not go out much at night but who enjoyed daytime activities.

The new lodge was officially opened on June 22 by Most Worshipful Brother Harold Gates, Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of NSW.

Worshipful Brother John Moir is Master of the new lodge.

Two hundred Masons attended the opening ceremony and they were joined by about 50 wives for the banquet held at Twin Towns Services Club.

Mr Briddick said the new lodge had 75 members.

“But we expect to double that before the end of the year”

“We welcome new members and it may be of interest that the ladies take part in our social activities,” he said.
